About a man who turned into a fish
Hostel Abraham, Tel Aviv
during Illustration Week TLV
November 2021
This unique exhibition centers around my graphic novel, "About a man who turned into a fish," extending the narrative beyond the pages and into the physical space. As both the artist and the curator, I envisioned the exhibition as an immersive experience for the viewer. Faced with the challenge of presenting the work within a corridor, I sought to create a welcoming and intimate environment.
To achieve this, I transformed the space into a cozy reading nook, complete with an armchair, a floor lamp, and shelves integrated into the wall. A small lighthouse, a central symbol in the graphic novel representing both a compass and a guide on a journey, was also incorporated into the installation. Additionally, I created hand-painted postcards featuring various lighthouses, offering visitors a tangible connection to the story's imagery.
This thoughtful arrangement invited visitors to pause and engage with the graphic novel in a quiet and comfortable setting. The protagonist of "The Man Who Turned into a Fish" is a character who appreciates solitude, but the exhibition aimed to explore the nuanced difference between solitude and loneliness. Through the carefully curated space and the presentation of the graphic novel, I hoped to create an environment that subtly conveys this distinction, offering a deeper understanding of the protagonist's inner world.
